CLASS JOBS

iHELP

Each student will apply for a new job

every month and earn a monthly salary in our classroom economy for performing their job.  The purpose of having class jobs in the classroom is to teach students responsibility, leadership, and cooperation.  Students feel a part of our classroom community when they contribute to the running of our classroom.

At the end of each month, I will teach students a job search skill such as: writing a job application, a cover letter, or a resume; undergoing a job interview (on the phone and in person); and following up with the employer after the interview.  Students will practice the skill as they apply for their new job.  I will determine students' eligibility for the jobs requested based on their performance on the skill learned.  Afterwards, my previous employees will practice their communication skills by training the new hires.

Students receive $50 for all jobs, but are encouraged to write a persuasive letter to Ms. Dinh to ask for a promotion if they feel they are putting more effort in their job than others.

For information on all the available jobs in our classroom, please view the Job Descriptions.
